In Multidisciplinary Media Studies, you'll have the freedom to choose and explore different subjects that interest you. With flexible, on-campus and online course offerings, you can customize your education to your learning needs. You will complete media core courses; general education courses like English, math and science; general electives in any area across the University and courses in specific focus areas related to your interests.

Multidisciplinary Media Studies is the best of both worlds with hands-on training in communication and media and expertise in your chosen industry — entertainment, sports, healthcare, social media, event planning and more.

Your Degree Plan

Intro

Build your degree around a foundation of hands-on training in communication and media and include courses that are customized to your interests and chosen industry.

The Multidisciplinary Media Studies major allows you to build a customized course of study that aligns with your goals. Through hands-on courses, you will gain professional skills that are relevant to today’s — and tomorrow’s — media industry.

To graduate, all Multidisciplinary Media Studies majors must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. Multidisciplinary Media Studies majors earn a Bachelor of Arts and complete:

  • MDMS Focus Courses and Electives (33 credits)
  • General Electives (31 credits)
  • General Education Foundation Courses (23 credits), including English, math and sciences
  • Media Core Classes (20 credits), including: Orientation Course, Media and Society, Media Writing, Media Tools and Applications, Introduction to Advertising and Public Relations, Media Ethics and Law, and MDMS Capstone
